Hi. I’m Bobbi.

I am a therapist based in Durango, Colorado, offering counseling for individuals and couples. I have two areas of speciality: grief, loss and life transition, and first responders, medical workers, and their spouses.

Before training as a therapist, I spent years as a journalist and college educator — work that was really about the same thing: sitting with people while they told the truth of their lives. That practice of listening closely, without rushing someone toward resolution, was foundational learning for my therapeutic role and still shapes how I work with clients today.

My approach draws on grief-informed and companioning frameworks, narrative therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I create a space where clients feel safe, seen, and supported — whether they’re working to grieve, mourn, and integrate loss into their lives in brave, creative ways, or navigating stress, moral injury, and burnout from careers that cost them a lot.

I hold a Master's degree in Counseling and a certification in Death and Grief Studies from the Center for Loss & Life Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate, working under clinical supervision. I lead support and training groups in my community and occasionally speak on topics of grief and loss, in the effort to help normalize a healthy grieving process in our mourning-avoidant world.

How we work together

  1. You reach out, and we schedule a meeting of 30 minutes for me to learn about you, and for you to ask questions.

  2. After our talk, you decide if you’d like to move forward. If so, I assure our initial session takes place within a week.

  3. I’ll have you complete some necessary paperwork prior to our first session, to help me learn more about you and to clarify what you can expect from our relationship.

  4. Our first session will be a 60 to 90-minute meeting, and after that, a standard session is 55 to 60 minutes.
